When you participate in electronic tithing online, your contribution will be securely transferred directly to the parish. And you won't have to remember to write a check or stop by the ATM on Sundays! Queen of Heaven Parish offers Online Giving - a convenient and safe way for parishioners to make a one-time or recurring tithe, or even for visitors or guests to support the mission of God and His work at Queen of Heaven. Getting started is easy.
A few thoughts: Our Lord never intended, designed or commanded His people to sacrifice time and energy trying to make money through continuous fundraisers or sales. Instead, in the Old Covenant, He called upon all of His people to tithe the first portion of their blessings in return to God. In this way the work of God would never be lacking, and all the time and energy of His people would be spent in making disciples and saving souls, not in making money!
In the New Covenant, it is one of the church's mandates that Catholics, according to their means, support the church. But really: it is a mere reminder. Catholics who really love God and their church, do not need a mandate or a reminder, do they? What does your sharing of your (time, talent, and also) treasure say about your faith?
About 60% of registered parishioners at Queen of Heaven contribute to the financial need of their parish, at least somewhat. If parishioners donate cash, the majority put in between $1 and $5 per week; in checks, it is mostly between $10 and $20 weekly. Now, we have about 1,100 registered parishioners. Imagine if everyone would just give (at least) 2 dollars a day to the parish? If you can afford it, please, DO NOT stop to support your church! We could not do without you!
